Deja Vu

When Madison was just a few weeks old she came down with a fever; our pediatrician insisted she be taken to the emergency room. The poor little girl endured two terrible days of IVs, catheters, x-rays, ultrasounds, even a lumbar puncture. In the end she was diagnosed with a UTI caused by a kidney reflux. Our urologist was confident that her little body would fix itself as she grew. She has been fine ever since (with the help of daily antibiotics) and will have her final ultrasound next month to make sure her kidneys have corrected themselves.

This past Saturday McKay came down with a similar fever. We were pretty sure it was due to some viral infection passed to him by one of the girls. But, because of his age it was necessary to take him to the hospital for testing to rule out a few serious illnesses (Meningitis, RSV, UTIs, and various bacterial infections). McKay and I spent 2 terribly BORING days in the hospital. Luckily, Byron was able to take off work to stay home with the girls. In the end all serious illnesses were ruled out leaving a simple viral infection to be the cause of Mckay's fever.

This is McKay with one of his pediatric doctors. He seemed especially fond of her and she was quite fond of him too once he snuggled up on her shoulder. I particularly love his gangsta sign (let's hope this is the last time we see him making it).
